Problem-based learning is at the core of the Health Sciences curriculum. The Health Sciences Department built its curriculum on a problem-based (PBL) model for several reasons. First, we are committed to ensuring our students are prepared to grapple with and to solve complex real-world problems that they will encounter in the field. Second, working on a team is foundational to work in the field. PBL prepares students for this work. Finally, like many other faculty, we found that traditional teaching methods were falling short.
